Happy to see the online reviewing community sees the album as positively as I do! It’s a great album.
Thanks! Yes, the reactions are way beyond expectations…never expected so many people to like this eclectic album
I’m an old progger and TDream fan who’d really lost interest in modern “progressive” rock music. Most of it seems derivative, or a bit too serious (Dream Theatre / Porcupine Tree) for me to listen to a full album at a time. I bought a copy of “Prog” magazine on a whim, and it had “Lost in the New Real” on a cover disc. The structure and levels of musicianship (reminded me of Camel) blew me away. I immediately ordered the CD (from Amazon -sorry I did not know about this site then) and have just listened to it. Forgetting about the great musicianship (and the weighty presence of R”tears-in-rain”H as narrator, the thing that really got me with this was that it was impossible to guess what each track was going to be like from the previous. I haven’t heard a CD that fresh in a long time. So hats-off to you Mr Lucassen, I think you may have renewed by faith in modern rock music and for that I owe you a beer if you ever come to Belfast
Great to read you enjoy the solo album so much, Dave! Oh yes, early Camel and TD definitely had a big influence on me, you heard that well. And I know exactly what you mean by ‘too serious’, it’s like a bit of humor or eclecticism is just not done anymore. I’m glad I’ve been able to restore your faith, and thanks for the invitation!
Thanks! Well, to be perfectly honest we didn’t feature the less positive reviews, hehe…. Not many of them though, and none really painful
I agree! Absolutely a ‘must-have’.
Wow, that is a lot of high scores, no less than it deserves. I’m on my 12th(?) listen-through right now and I’m not tired of it yet
. Love your voice Arjen.
Here is another in portuguese, Arjen!

8/10 two times
Thanks for the links, Lighter, well add them soon!
Hi, not sure why you’re so surprised. It’s a bloody great album. Very tight technically and musically, excellent vocals………..and it’s got RUTGER HAUER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So thanx once again. Now, go create more please.
Thanks Alan! Well, maybe I didn’t expect it because it doesn’t feature many famous guest singers. And it’s not as epic and bombastic as Ayreon. And not really a metal album either. So many different styles, even some REALLY happy sounding songs
But yeah…it’s got Rutger, yay!
Okay…okay…back to work
And another of your masterpiece’s getting praised… just as it should be
But the way, here is another review (in English):

Thanks for the link, Kseniya, excellent review indeed. We’ll add it asap!
Glad to be of service, Arjen!
Best wishes from UK,
Kseniya
(Sorry for the typo above. Was really excited
)
Hey Arjen,
here´s another positive review –>

Splendid album Arjen!
Thanks Dirk, sehr gut! Will add it.
Hey Arjen,
first of all, I want to thank you for the incredible music you create – it’s very inspirative.
As for the reviews, you (or who ever posted them) made a little mistake. The review from “muzika.hr” is not from Serbia, it’s from Coatia. No big deal but I now that your a perfectionist:-)
All the best and greetings from Croatia
You’re welcome, Albert! Oops…sorry… Google translated it from Serbian… Thanks for the tip, we’ll change it!
Sadly, I haven’t gotten hold of the album yet (no-one has paypal around here, and I really want that special edition package with the t-shirt in your store xD, plus I have the idea that you get more of my money if I buy there, than in a second hand store :p), but considering who has made this album, I can’t really say I’m surprised at the reviews, haha
)
Anyways, I listened a lot to the title track on youtube, and it’s amazing + the info video is really cool!
Btw; that (Jef Bertels, right?) art in the background on the cover, is it available in a wallpaper form? Without the rest of the cover I mean.
Thanks for the compliments, Torbjorn! You mean the painting that Jef Bertels made for the Dream Sequencer cover in 2000? Or do you mean the ‘replica’ that Claudio made for this cover?
I found it, I meant the one in the LitNR cover, just assumed it was Bertels’
The cover art on your albums are almost as amazing as the music, kudos for picking artists!
btw; here’s a review from a Norwegian site:

Takk, will add!
I agree, very proud of them!
Hello Arjen, I have to be honest … at the beginning I had hard time o find a lead in your new CD, really different in style from what you ever did before. After month or so, I listen to it almost every day and now I can’t stop it … my wife is getting crazy. I simply felt in love with this album, I wish we could have a movie to watch at the same time it’s so unreal. I bought the two cds package and I aslo really appreciate your work on it. I thank you very much for all this devotion to music and continue your awesome work Arjen. Michel_CANADA
Thanks for your honesty, Michel…but great to read you got to enjoy it eventually! I’m glad you call it different. I think so too, but many seem to disagree.
But please hug your poor wife for me, haha!
Hello Arjen ! Wow! So many great reviews!

Hi Arjen !
Huge fan here !
Found this review (didn’t see it in the list) :
http://metalfields.wordpress.com/2012/06/03/review-arjen-lucassen-lost-in-the-new-real/
They gave 9/10… One more point and I would’ve agreed !
I was wondering … why didn’t Mr. Hauer do the intros for the songs on CD 2 ?
I know Ayreon’s story came to an end with 01011001, but I sure would like to hear more of that epic music and story. Maybe a story on how “Forever of the Stars”‘s species lost their emotions ?
Thanks again for that and for this amazing new album !
Please keep it up !
Thanks for your comment and the link, Hemmel! Yeah, dammit..only 9 out of 10, hehe…
Mr. Hauer was extremely busy and we didn’t want to burden him with even more tracks. As you might know he wrote most of his own words.
There will definitely be another Ayreon! But I do want to try and come up with a new story this time. I’m afraid the Forever story was becoming a bit too complicated, especially for those who don’t know my earlier albums.
Great news you’re gonna continue The Aryeon part. As far as I’m concerned I loved “the Forever-storyline. But a new storyline makes me even more curious.
So lots of inspiration and love to here from you coz Holland needs a great musical magician as you are.
Thanks RadaR, will do my best! No ideas yet for a new story line, but I hope the music will inspire me.
Hey Arjen,
Great reviews indeed. You should also be pround of how accessable you are to your fans. For an established artist, who produces such consistently high quality, one could forgive a little aloofness. However, you couldn’t be more different. We all get a great insight into how you think and make your wounderful music. On that, what is the thing that really inspires you to drop whatever else you are doing to hit the songwriting?
Well, it helps that I don’t play live, Cam. That saves a LOT of time! And because I don’t play live and therefore don’t meet the fans anymore, this is a great way to stay in contact.
Creating new music is what I love to do most, so any time I feel inspiration I grab the moment. I’m kind of a one-track minded person who’s ‘living the music’ day and night, so there isn’t much for me to drop I guess!
Love the videos you’ve made for some of the songs Arjen…… it would be great to work with you, to be a part of your projects.
You’re a genious Arjen, this album shows it….. and I can’t decide which song is the best.
Congratulations!!
