Ayreon - The Theory of Everything

NOT the album cover, just the title!

Arjen is busy in the studio working on the next Ayreon album, which will be titled THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING. He’s finished recording instrumental demos of all the tracks, and is now working on the lyrics. The next step will be recording guide vocals to send to the vocalists. And no, we can’t tell you who they are yet…all we can say is that we’re VERY excited about the line-up we have planned. More info later!

    Hey Arjen.

Let me just say, first of all, I’m a huge fan of your music. Your ability to cover so much ground genre-wise and still retain that distinct “Arjen Lucassen” sound is amazing, and I hope that one day I’ll be able to reach that state with my own music.

I’ve got a gear-related question. I’m always trying to improve the tone of my guitars, and I’m always doing research on the pickups my favourite artists use and all that kind of stuff. I noticed that you use a Bill Lawrence Twin Blade in your Explorer, and from what I’ve heard (I’m going mostly by the Star One Live DVD), it sounds great. Would you be able to tell me exactly which model it is?

Thanks either way, and I can’t wait to hear more music!

    • Arjen says:

Good to read my music inspired you, Keii, thanks for letting me know!

Sorry, I have no idea about the pick-up…that was more than 30 years ago! I remember I wanted a very clean pick-up and this was the one.

    Hey Arjen! How are you?

I just would like to say that your music transports me to another world. Another great world that i can feel very good and harmonized.

Best regards and I wait for your next great album.

    Goeie dag Arjen,

Just recently learnt (I know, it’s a shame in these times of Twitter and stuff) that your new Ayreon CD was going to hit stores, cd players, amps, speakers and our delighted ears thru loads of decibels in the forthcoming months. Geeez… So I thought it was time to drop you somes lines…

Came to your music via 01011001 (which I’m listening to right now and is my favorite one along with Star One releases), then Human Equation and most other previous Ayreon CDs, Ambeon (which was hard to find at that time) and also Guilt Machine with Jasper (knew his “Arid” band a bit before discovering your work, maybe because he is also belgian ;-)). BTW, is it true that you convinced him to join the Guilt Machine project because you were both Iron Maiden fans ?

Anyway, trying to convert my entourage to your work but unfortunately, either you’re into metal music or your not…

Hoping all the shit you went thru is way behind you now,
Olivier (from Liège / Luik (not that far away, huh ? ;-))

    • Arjen says:

Hi Olivier, thanks for your message! Yessss….new Ayreon is in the making. And yes…when Jasper heard that I worked with Bruce Dickinson…he was suddenly very interested indeed πŸ™‚

    Hey Arjen!

I can’t believe that Lost in the New Real is already a year old! You have written such great music, a marvelous story, and the charm of Rutger Hauer was just icing on the cake!

Hearing about the new Ayreon album releasing this year took me by surprise, to be honest. Whenever I hear the word “hiatus” I always expect the worst, which is my favorite musicians slowly fading into obscurity. You, however, have been hard at work and keeping in touch with fans!

Thanks, Arjen… your music is incredibly special to me, all of it!

    • Arjen says:

Thanks Jeremiah! Really, was it a year ago? Wow…time flies indeed… And eh…death before obscurity πŸ™‚

  6. Hi, Mr. L.

I’m a chilean writer of fantasy and science fiction. To discover your music has been an inspiration for me the last year. Thank you for keep the good music alive! Another Ayreon album is an amazing new, the best of 2013. And the title of the album… wow… no title would be better. I think you will complete the answers that Einstein left unfinished.

Estoy ansioso por tener en mis manos el nuevo disco!!

    LeΓ³n de Montecristo (Santiago, Chile).

    • Arjen says:

You’re welcome, Leon, glad I’ve been able to inspire you! I can’t promise to solve the Theory of Everything though, math was never really my thing πŸ™‚ Good luck with your writing!

  7. IamPain-IamReal says:

    Any release dates?
I am so excited for the next album! Please let every vocalist shine! I know it’s hard to balance them all out but I know you can prove that this Ayreon can be phenomenal! Never stop Arjen! :)))

    • Arjen says:

No fixed release date yet, but we hope to release by the end of this year. And yes, I will make them shine for sure! I’ve recorded two singers so far, and they both did an amazing job πŸ™‚

      • Tomek says:

Who? Who? Who? Tell us, please! Maybe some videos? πŸ˜‰

        • Arjen says:

Still too early, Tomek! But soon, I promise πŸ™‚

          • Peter says:

Gosh Arjen ! You are keeping us in such … uncertainty . It’s cruel you know ? πŸ˜€ Anyway i can’t wait for next album and i’m 100% sure it will be outstanding like your previous ones.

            Cheers from Poland !

  8. NahuelCC says:

mmmm…. that title!!! now you left me wondering if you’re going to start fresh with a new story, or keep developing the story of the previous albums.

    let the hype begin! πŸ™‚

  9. Murpheus says:

    Hi Arjen

    Greatings from Germany

After a long time i visited ur Page and i cant believe my eyes. What a Surprise. I cant wait to hear the first track or a demo. Im sure it will be superior exellent as every time u record.

Can u give a hint in which direction it leads?

    (sry for my bad english^^)

    • Arjen says:

Thanks for your message and your confidence, Murpheus! It will be my most proggy album so far. I’d say somewhere between Electric Castle and Human Equation.
