His voice reminds me of one of my favorite singers; Robert Plant, although Damian sings completely different and is absolutely not a Plant fan. That’s why his voice can be considered unique. It is clear, and strong, and indestructible. I heard one of his songs (Homegrown) on a Prog collection CD and was immediately impressed. Later on I heard him sing in the progband Landmarq, and again he stood out for me, and I didn’t even know who he was! Then I checked him out at a live concert of Threshold, and was so impressed that afterwards I asked him to perform on Ayreon. Damian interprets the songs in his own way; he doesn’t pay any attention to my guidevocals at all. After he had sung on ‘Into the Electric Castle’, I knew I was going to work with him a lot. We get along really well on a personal level as well. A funny detail is that he didn't like the song 'And the druids turn to stone' when I sent it to him (with my guidevocals), but he did it anyway.
