John and Pat McManus – Flute and fiddles Arjen explains: “When I was in England to receive the CRS Musician of the Year 2000 Award (handed to me by Rick Wakeman — cool!), I saw a great Celtic band perform, named… eh… Celtus. I was very impressed with the warm sound of the low flute played by John and the Celtic violin melodies played by Pat (they used to play together in the hard rock band Mama’s Boys). After the show I asked them if they would be interested in playing on my new project Ambeon. A few months later I sent them the recordings and they played their awesome parts in their own studio. I certainly intend to work with John in the future; his technique on the low flute is unparalleled.” In 2004 John worked again with Arjen on the Ayreon album ‘The Human Equation‘. |
