\nArjen explains:
\nEdward always watches my face when he’s singing. Whenever he sees that big smile appear, he knows he’s on the right track. Edward has a bright, and yet warm voice. A lot of Dutch people will recognize his voice from the many commercials he sings. I was already a fan of his voice when I heard Kayak’s hitsong ‘Ruthless Queen’. When I heard him again on the Pink Floyd Tribute record, on which I also sang, I immediately asked him to sing on Ayreon. He is extremely professional and sings everything in one take, exactly the way I had in mind. When I had recorded Edward for the first Ayreon CD, I knew he would become a regular part of Ayreon. And he sang on all but one Ayreon CD so far. <\/p>\n

Edward: (taken from the interview)
\nArjen and I can get along really well. We love almost the same kind of music and there was ‘chemistry’ from the very beginning. We respect each other’s talent and this creates a base of confidence on which we can get along really well. <\/p>\n

I see Arjen as a painter with sound and my voice as a color. If he uses my color in several paintings, my voice is part of the chromatic spectrum. Not that my color is a substantial part of a series of paintings. Apart from that, it’s very nice to participate every time. <\/p>\n

The production on all Ayreon albums is of a very high level, to my opinion. I have a 16- track recording studio at home, so I’m very busy with a good sound myself. When I have sung at Arjen’s studio, I can blindly rely on the fact that he will deal with it with great integrity and professionalism.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
