Of course the comparison of Lenny&#8217;s voice with Robert Plant is obvious, but he has developed his own recognizable style. I thought they were a great band in and of itself, and continued buying all their albums. When I had a Led Zeppelin type of song (&#8216;Eyes of Time&#8217;) and couldn&#8217;t get a hold of Robert Plant, a reporter told me to contact Lenny. Lenny at that time didn&#8217;t have a good reputation and a studio in the Netherlands was more than willing to give me his telephone number and asked me to call him preferably &#8216;very&#8217; early in the morning! No one could sing &#8216;Eyes of Time&#8217; the way I had in mind. I had tried 6 singers already, and Lenny turned out to be the only right choice. Lenny wanted to record his own voice; we all had to leave the studio. He didn&#8217;t want to use headphones, he just stood there between the speakers, recording himself: singer, producer and engineer in one! We worked so well together that Lenny asked me to play in Kingdom Come.
