Ken Hensley – keyboard
Arjen explains: I have always been a huge fan of Ken’s Hammond sound and playing, ever since I first heard Uriah Heep’s live album in the beginning of the 70’s. If you listen to my own Hammond sound you’ll hear that he’s surely been a big influence on me. I also love his great compositions like ‘July Morning’ and ‘Easy Livin”.

Needless to say I’ve always wanted to work with him, but I didn’t know how to get in contact with him. Then a friend of mine, Lars Ratz (bassplayer of Metallium), who works with Ken regularly, gave me his email address. I emailed Ken and luckily he agreed to do it- provided he would like the music. I had to wait a while because he was on tour, but then he recorded his Hammondsolo in his own studio in Spain. I asked him for a really dirty and evil Hammonsolo in the style of his great solo in ‘Gypsy’ (Uriah Heep live album) with all his unique tricks and that’s exactly what I got! I was so happy that I called up all my friends the moment I got his solo and played them the solo over the phone! The first thing I did though, was give Ken a call and tell him that it was even better than I expected and that he made a dream come true.
