Joost van den Broek – keyboard
Arjen explains: I was looking for a keyboard player for the Star One tour who was able to do the symphonic as well as the fast work, and for practical reasons it had to be someone from the Netherlands. Everyone I approached was unavailable, until I got a phone call from Joost. Without being arrogant he told me that it was no problem for him to figure out all the complicated parts and then play them. And during an audition in my studio he proved that he could indeed do everything he had promised. I couldn’t have asked for a better keyboardist, or for a better person for this tour. We will undoubtedly hear more from this natural talent; he’s got everything going for him.

Studio report – The Human Equation:
Arjen: Joost played keyboards on the Star One tour I did in 2002. Despite the fact that he was quite inexperienced at the time and only 20 years young, he did an amazing job and impressed the band as well as the audiences. I already knew then that I was definitely going to work with him again some day. For this album I needed a spinet on one of the songs, and asked Joost if he could do this. He really went out of his way to find a real spinet, arranged a mobile studio and recorded a great ‘medieval’ part. Of course I also wanted him to do a virtuoso synthlead and I got exactly what I hoped for… even more!
